You can buy a ticket for public transpor (weekly, monthly, and Heidelberg tickets are available) at the HSB counter at Bismarckplatz (travel information). With a student I.D., you can purchase a weekly ticket (Wochenkarte) for  € 14,50 approx. or a monthly ticket (Monatskarte) for  € 39,00 approx. You can take the straßenbahns and buses to all the districts of  Heidelberg (Eppelheim, Leimen and Neckargemünd) from Bismarckplatz. If you would like to go to Schwetzingen, you can take the Bahnbus (departs from the Baumarkt "Bauhaus") or you could take the straßenbahn line 2 towards Eppelheim and then board the bus in Eppelheim. Both bus lines Stop in front of the Schwetzinger Schloß (castle).

To get to Mannheim you can take the train from the main train station (from Rohrbach you can take the straßenbahn line 4 to the station; and from Bismarckplatz the Straßenbahn lines 1 and 5 and the bus lines 11 und 33). The train trip to Mannheim takes about 20 minutes.

Please remember that your ticket for public transport is only good within Heidelberg. If you would like to travel to Schwetzingen, Mannheim, Leimen, Schriesheim etc., please ask the driver for a one way ticket (each way costs about €1 - 3 approx.).

The bus lines 11 und 33 also go to the "Bergbahn" stop - from there, you can either go by foot or take the famous "Bergbahn" (mountain train) to the world famous Heidelberger Schloß. You can also use your public transport ticket for the Bergbahn.
